Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which enters the body through small cuts or breaks in the skin.  Factors such as a weakened immune system, skin-to-skin contact with an infected person, and walking barefoot in public places increase the risk of contracting HPV.

Several treatment options are available, tailored to the type and location of the wart:

Cryotherapy: Freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen.

Salicylic acid: Topical application to gradually dissolve the wart.

Surgical removal: Cutting out the wart under local anesthesia.

Immunotherapy: Stimulating the body’s immune response to attack the wart.

Laser therapy: Targeted destruction of the wart tissue.

It’s important to not that over-the-counter remedies may not always be effective, and self-treatment can lead to complications.  Consulting a dermatologist ensures proper diagnosis and personalized treatment for optimal results.  Remember, early intervention and patience are key to successfully managing warts and preventing their recurrence.
